Shopping in Pittsburgh depends on what sort of shopper you are and what you’re setting out to find. Most of the new clothing and gift boutiques in the city have opened around Lawrenceville and East Liberty, including the men’s clothing and accessory store Vestis, where you can pick up items like knits by Woolrich or Malin + Goetz grooming products. Nearby is Von Walter & Funk, purveyors of fine stationery, antique garden tools, apothecary goods, and many other unique gifts to bring home.

If you’re in the market for a one-stop shopping mall, check out the Waterfront in Homestead, where there are both smaller shops and department stores among restaurants and entertainment venues like a dueling piano bar, a comedy club, and an AMC Loews Theatre. The outdoor mall sits along the Monongahela River on the converted site of one of Pittsburgh’s largest steel works. And don’t forget about museum shops; there are great gifts to be found at the Carnegie Museum of Art or Pop Art souvenirs and coffee table books at the Andy Warhol Museum Store.
