Piraeus
Jimmy & the Fish
Athens, 18533, Greece
A favorite with politicos and yachties who just step off their boats and onto its dock, Jimmy & the Fish offers exceptionally fresh and creative seafood, from sea urchin salad to the signature dish, tender octopus in sweet Mavrodaphne wine. The restaurant aims for a yacht-club vibe, with oars marking off the deck area and fish-adorned china, but the setting—in Mikrolimano harbor along a strip of other clubs and restaurants—is more Miami than Maine, especially in the evening. The innovative cuisine, however, attracts all kinds: hipsters brag how little they can remember from their last trip to Mykonos at one table while a grandmother celebrates her 85th birthday at the next.
Insider Tip:
Piraeus is a city in itself, so tell the cabbie you’re going to Mikrolimani (“Little Harbor”).
