Established in 1987 by Kimber Lanning, Stinkweeds is an independently owned music shop specializing in local, indie, and imported tunes by such artists as Zach Condon, Feist, Mastodon, and Alberta Cross. Situated in a small, unassuming building in the downtown Medlock Plaza, the store features a carefully selected stock of LP’s, CD’s, DVD’s, books, magazines, posters, and T-shirts. Stinkweeds also sells tickets for local and in-store shows, with past performers including Blonde Redhead, Menomena, Nada Surf, and Folk Implosion. Listening posts are available for new releases, and the music-loving staff can easily accommodate special orders and make personalized recommendations.
Every April, Stinkweeds participates in the annual Record Store Day by offering all-day live music, free food, and complimentary gift bags filled with new music and band merchandise.
