Running from Seventh Avenue to 16th Street and from Interstate 10 to Fillmore Street, Roosevelt Row arts district (RoRo for short) is a prominent hub of local culture. Old buildings were rescued by artists and gallery owners who set up shop there in the late 1990’s, and the neighborhood is also home to award-winning restaurants, boutiques, and businesses like JoBot Coffee, which hosts Pink Slip Poetry Jams. Several buildings are adorned with creative murals; one features birds in silhouette, like a flock casting shadows as it flies by. Special events include the First Friday Art Walk and live music performances.
Stop by the Public Market during Food Truck Fridays and try Sweet Republic’s homemade Toffee Banofi Sundae, previously featured on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate.
