Phoenix
Orpheum Theatre, Phoenix
Even if there isn’t a show scheduled at this historic 1929 theater and former vaudeville house, take a free, guided tour of the renovated facility. Its ornate Spanish-influenced, Baroque Revival style is flush with zodiac symbols; and the painted ceiling resembles a starry night sky. Carol Channing reprised her Tony-award-winning role in Hello Dolly! during the arena’s 1997 revival, and the Phoenix Metropolitan Opera calls this theater home. You might also catch touring acts including kid-friendly musician Dan Zanes or Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, the Oscar-winning singing and songwriting duo from the Irish film Once.
