Monk's Café

264 South 16th St.
Philadelphia, PA, 19102, United States
TEL: (215) 545-7005

Situated in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, this no-frills pub is known for its immense selection of Belgian brews. The dim, narrow space contains two bars—one up front and one in back, separated by a handful of wooden booths. Some 20 beers on tap include the orange-scented Triple Karmeliet and the Flemish Sour Ale, brewed exclusively for Monk's in Ghent, Belgium. Drafts are joined by hundreds of bottled beers, including a multitude of American microbrews. Popular menu items are the burgers and the mussels, available in a variety of preparations such as Thai curry with sour ale and coconut milk.

Insider Tip:

The small portion of mussels is actually huge, so opt for the small unless you plan on sharing.
