Blvd. Saint Germain, Latin Quarter, Paris, 75007, France

Settled by the Romans in the first century B.C., the Fifth Arrondissement is one of the oldest districts in the city. Located on the Left Bank, the neighborhood is home to the Latin Quarter and its many universities, including those housed in the Sorbonne. Among the district's highlights are the 60-acre Jardin des Plantes (Botanical Garden) and the Panthéon, a mid-18th-century mausoleum in which Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and Alexander Dumas are interred. Rue Mouffetard is a popular shopping destination thanks to its regular open-air market and wide array of artisan bakeries, fromageries (cheese shops), and pastry shops.
