Sofitel Paris La Defense

33 Voie des Sculpteurs
Paris, France
TEL: 33-1-477-64-443

Paris hotels are famous for charging luxury-hotel rates for tiny rooms best described as shabby-genteel. Not so the Sofitel Paris La Defense, with a location in the La Defense business district (a 15-minute metro ride from the Louvre). Here, great service reigns, as do well-designed, modern rooms that start at 258 square feet. A total renovation in 2006 transformed interiors with a contemporary color palette of chocolate and beige (plus pops of fuchsia and saffron), cool details such as adjustable-transparency windows between the bathroom and bedroom, and Sofitel’s signature feather-topped beds. Add in flat-screen TVs and bathrooms with all-modern fixtures such as bowl sinks and rain showers, and a stay at the Sofitel is an elegant complement to a visit to nearby attractions, including the Grande Arche.

Room to Book:

The “classic” rooms on the seventh and eighth floors are a deal because they weren’t redone with the rest of the hotel in ’06; however, they have the same luxurious Sofitel featherbeds and got new carpet and wallpaper just last year.

Insider Tip:

An 861-square-foot exterior fresco and the Tron-like light-box art in the lobby is by young French contemporary artist Ruddy Candillon, and is intended to reflect the modern spirit of La Defense.
