Le Boulanger de Monge
Paris, 75005, France
The long line down the sidewalk in front of this Latin Quarter bakery says it all: Boulanger de Monge is a local favorite. Fastidious bread bakers are in full view of throngs of spectators outside through the front window, making for a show while people wait to get in. The signature palm tree pastry is made with a fluffy biscuit dough; l'escargots (snail-shaped pastries) come in flavors of cannelle (cinnamon) and chocolat (chocolate). Various miniature loaves are turned out as well and incorporate savory ingredients of olives, bacon, nuts, or cheese.
