This 14-acre resort filled with gardens and quiet indoor-outdoor spaces has been a desert hotspot for celebrities and the jet set crowd since the 1960s. The entire property was recently renovated, with design by Jonathan Adler, refurbished pool and spa areas, and a wine bar called Counter Reformation that will serve small plates. Rooms include all-white, four-poster beds, and some even come with private outdoor patios. There are also stand-alone villas available, like the refurbished Gene Autry residence, for large groups or those who want extra privacy. Winding footpaths take you around the beautiful grounds, where you can take a dip in one of the saline pools or sit for a while by the firepit. There are two excellent restaurants, the casual Norma's or more upscale Mister Parker's, and one classic, retro-style bar called Minibar.
