Located downtown, the Hideaway was designed by Herbert Burns as the city’s first traditional motor inn. Although it retains much of its original 1947 style, the single-level motel underwent a full renovation in 2002. The nine studio rooms are now individually designed, each with furnishings by famous designers like Eames and Arne Jacobsen. A secluded saltwater pool and a lava-rock fire pit sit in the center of the property, with views of the surrounding San Jacinto Mountains. In addition, the motel also has a lounge area with a flagstone fireplace, a library, and a collection of board games.
