Mount San Jacinto
Palm Springs, CA, 92262, United States
Visiting the peaks of Palm Springs’ Mount San Jacinto requires either an eight-minute ascent on the Palm Springs Aerial Tram or a lengthy drive to the end of U.S. Highway 243 north. Once at the top, the Coachella Valley and neighboring San Gabriel Mountains are visible. The park has a visitor’s center, marked hiking trails, a restaurant, gift shop, and ski center (open in winter). To protect the mountain’s delicate ecosystem, each visitor must register for a free wilderness permit from the park service before exploring the mountain.
Insider Tip:
If you must stay connected to the virtual world, the park service offers free wireless service within approximately 200 feet of the visitor’s center.
