Outside San Francisco
The Alinder Gallery displays authentic works by a range of artists, but most notably from Ansel Adams (one of the gallery owners has even written a number of biographies about the American photographer). Pieces on display may include Adams' iconic Moon and Half Dome, shot in nearby Yosemite National Park, or the luminous Aspens. Architect Obie Bowman designed the space, reworking a one-story bungalow into the photography-focused art gallery. The exterior includes horizontal wooden slats, painted in white, gray, and black monotones to represent the Zone System—a photographic technique credited to Adams and Fred Archer.
