This pyramid-shaped resort on 1,500 acres underwent a $65 million renovation in 2009. There’s no shortage of activities here, not only with Walt Disney World next door, but because the 815-room Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress also has four Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf courses, tennis courts, sailing and canoeing on Lake Windsong, swimming in a lagoon pool with waterfalls and slides, a climbing wall, and a game room. On-site dining includes La Coquina Chef’s Table, Perks coffee shop, and Hemingway’s, which specializes in seafood.
Room to Book:
Ask for a lake-view room or one of the pool-view rooms on the west and north wings’ upper floors. Disney’s fireworks can be seen from the pool-view rooms.
Insider Tip:
Try the hotel’s signature drink, the rum-based Papa Doble, at Hemingway’s or Hurricane’s. It is said to have been Ernest Hemingway’s favorite blend.
