Singel 460, Amsterdam, 1017 AW, Netherlands

Built as a brewery in 1662, this nightclub on the Singel Canal in central Amsterdam served as a concert hall, cinema, and auction hall, all of which are noticeable in the exposed wood beams, ceiling paintings, carved stucco, and Greek columns. Today The Odeon is just one part of a complex that includes a restaurant, performance hall, and three private rooms hung with large, photographic interpretations of the ceiling art. The dance floor takes up the third floor and is accompanied by black bars, red curtains, velvet sofas, and a body-shaking sound system.
