Old Center
Brasserie Harkema
Despite being located in a former tobacco warehouse in Amsterdam’s old town center, this popular Parisian-style brasserie looks forward with its energetic atmosphere, wide-open layout, rainbow-striped walls, and designer furniture. The food produced in the open kitchen exhibits a similar spirit, with occasional nods to former Dutch colonies in dishes like Surinamese beef, Thai-style cod, and cream of pea soup with smoked salmon (the menu changes every three months). Three private, sound-proof rooms known as the Annex are decked out in the latest audiovisual gear and available for business functions.
Insider Tip:
In such a large room, it’s easy to be lost in the crowd. You’ll more likely be noticed by the waitstaff if you sit towards the center.
