North City + Docklands
A dramatic restaurant setting can often mean underwhelming food—but Quay 16 is a happy exception to this rule. Set aboard the MV Cill Airne, a decommissioned ship moored on the north side of the Liffey, the restaurant certainly offers impressive daytime views over the south quays and a lovely interplay of light and water at night—but it wears its maritime setting lightly. The focus here is on the food—which is solidly good if not overwhelmingly creative. Start with the seared scallops and pork belly, or the trio of salmon preparations (smoked, cured, and pickled); then follow up with a pan-fried sea bass fillet or saffron-poached mussels.
Start or end your meal with a drink at one of the two handsome wood-paneled shipboard bars.
