Café Playa Negra

Calle Principal de Los Pargos
Playa Negra, 5150, Costa Rica
TEL: 506-2652-9351

Cloe, Maia, Andrea and Carlos Velardes, a family of Peruvian surfers, came to Playa Negra on the north Pacific coast in search of “peace, nature and great waves.” Astonished by the clean water, year-round warmth, and constant waves, they decided to stay and establish an under-the-radar surfing resort. The hotel contains six rustic rooms with high ceilings, fans, and large windows connected by large terrace overlooking the pool. After riding the waves at the eight surrounding beaches, surfers can fill up on Peruvian-Costa Rican fusion dishes like grilled mahi with fried plantains, cilantro seafood rice, and tuna tartare at the restaurant.

Room to Book:

Traveling to Playa Negra by public transport from Liberia International Airport is not especially recommended, especially if you don’t know the area. Rent a car.

Insider Tip:

Only four of the rooms have air conditioning, so make sure to request it specifically if it’s important.
