An outpost of the Chicago original, this SoHo shop specializes in haut chocolat, including bars and truffles made with such unusual ingredients as star anise, sweet curry powder, Jamaican beer, and wasabi. Nothing is too farfetched for owner and chocolatier Katrina Markoff, whose signature dark chocolate bacon bar combines applewood smoked bacon with alderwood smoked salt and 62 percent dark chocolate. Vegan treats, drinking chocolate, ice cream, and bake mixes round out the selection, which is housed in a bright purple shop adorned with sleek white counters and a crystal chandelier. Occasionally, the store hosts free champagne and truffle tastings.
