Van Leeuwen Artisan
Old-fashioned ice cream comes in 10 classic flavors at Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. Brothers Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen, along with Ben’s wife Laura O’Neill, launched their product in 2008, selling it from roving ice cream trucks, including this one, parked daily at Prince and Greene. The 18 percent butterfat confections come in flavors like earl grey and Scandinavian-inspired red currant. The ice cream is made from hormone-free milk and cream sourced from Lewis County, New York dairy farmers, as well as egg yolk and pure-cane sugar.
