Roberta's feels like the meeting of unlikely minds: the graffiti-festooned cinder-block garage in hardscrabble Bushwick houses a pizza oven, an organic garden tended by bearded gourmands, a radio station, and a once-in-a-while tasting menu that’s among the city's most inventive. New Yorkers take the L train here for the great pizzas and other rustic fare from the wood oven, but it's also worth reserving a spot for Carlo Mirarchi’s multi-course adventure. The restaurant also tends to be emptier for brunch, when you can pair the Bee Sting pizza (with sopressata, chili, and honey) with the addictive cornmeal pancakes.
