A Vermont native who fell in love with the food of Chiang Mai and northwest Thailand, Andy Ricker opened a slew of restaurants in Portland, Oregon, and was named the James Beard Best Chef of the Northwest in 2011. So who better to raise the bar (and spice level) of Thai cooking in NYC with a just-opened outpost of his wildly successful Pok Pok in Brooklyn? The cooking is authentic Thai but does not forgo the personal touch: one tasting note on the menu reads “Another beer please. And more sticky rice.” That's advice anyone would be happy to take.
