New York City
New York’s Calexico, founded by three brothers from California, has managed to set itself apart from the street-food pack with its authentic, flavorful tacos. Without a doubt, the most popular item at this food cart is the carne asada, tender steak marinated in a secret concoction and then served with avocado salsa and pico de gallo. Other offerings include grilled, marinated chicken and pork, and any filling can be ordered as a taco, quesadilla, or burrito (don't forget to add chipotle "crack" sauce). The cart can be found perched at the corner of Wooster and Prince Streets in Soho: Look for the yellow umbrellas.
