1413 Upperline St.
New Orleans, LA, 70115, United States
TEL: (504) 891-9822

Proof that upscale Creole cuisine can be inventive, (relatively) affordable, and found outside of the French Quarter, Upperline is one of the most acclaimed eateries in the city. Set in an 1877 brick townhouse, the restaurant is decorated with pieces from owner JoAnn Clevenger’s personal art collection, which includes more than 400 paintings, sculptures, photographs, and Jazzfest posters. The menu, created by Louisiana-born chef Ken Smith, includes such signature dishes as fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade, roast duck with peach sauce, and honey-pecan bread pudding. The Taste of New Orleans prix fixe dinner is a popular option, as well.

Insider Tip:

If you’re dining late, you might be lucky enough to enjoy a guided tour of the art collection led by JoAnn herself.
