Far from the usual tourist circuit, this uptown bistro serves reinvented Creole classics in a no-frills, two-story dining room. Open since 1983, Clancy’s has a loyal following of locals who enjoy the upscale yet still lively atmosphere. Ideal for both date night and group dining, the restaurant balances tuxedoed waiters and crisp white linens with simple bentwood chairs, unadorned walls, and handwritten menus (which change nightly). Among the signature dishes are the fried oysters with brie and the seasonal smoked soft shell crab. For dessert, the lemon ice box pie is a must.
