This 1919 landmark in the Garden District is acclaimed for its seafood gumbo, soft-shell crabs, signature "pan bread," and fresh-shucked Gulf oysters, just $8.50 for a dozen. Casemento's thrives on being exceedingly good at what it does and charging reasonable prices. The restaurant also serves sandwiches and seafood entrees like crab and calamari for those who may not enjoy the oyster emphasis. The interior of the compact space features original tile work (founder Joe Casamento preferred cleanliness of tile surfaces), small wooden tables, and guilded mirrors.
