Overlooking Royale Street in the famed French Quarter is a legendary circus act: The Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar, one of the most famous watering holes in the Big Easy. For decades, crowds have gathered nightly to mingle atop the colorful bar's brightly lit, revolving merry-go-round under a ceiling awash in fiber optic stars. Notable performers such as Liberace once headlined here back when the lounge was known as the Swan Room. Additionally, a host of celebrated authors have imbibed at this Royale Street lounge over the years, among them Hemingway and Faulkner. The adjoining dining room features live entertainment nightly.
The bartenders stay put while you whirl around on the revolving platform, so keep tabs on your beverage of choice so it won't migrate to someone else!
