Hauz Khas Village
Rural India meets valet parking at this 15th-century settlement, which has since been transformed into a shopping center with a faux-rustic theme. Among the wandering cattle and sidewalk panwallahs on these still-dusty lanes you’ll find high-end fashion shops (including exceptional branches of Ogaan and Tulsi), some compelling art galleries, and best of all, views of the adjacent reservoir (filled with luminous green water) and the crumbling red-stone cupolas and pavilions of the onetime Siri village. Note the charming sign outside the ruins: the playing of musical instruments, gramophones, or broadcast receivers (including transistors) is prohibited within the archeological area.
