Anne Frank House
Located in the west end of Amsterdam’s canal belt, the Anne Frank House is open for hour-long tours. Groups are led through Otto Frank’s period-preserved former front office into the secret annex where his now famous daughter Anne, her family, and four others remained in hiding until their betrayal in 1944. Since much of the furniture was removed after their arrest, the rooms remain mostly empty apart from salvaged documents and objects. Anne Frank’s diary and other writings are on permanent display in the building next door, which also houses a bookshop and café.
