Negen Straatjes
The Dylan
This boutique hotel, named for the poet Dylan Thomas, opened in 1999 and occupies restored 17th-century buildings along the Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam’s central shopping district. Accommodations come in several designs, including Kimono Rooms with black-and-white accents, Zensation Red Rooms with bold-red furniture, and Loxura Rooms with copper-hued curtains and chairs. The hotel’s row houses frame a plant-lined garden where “high wine” service is held daily—a selection of four wines and four small plates. A brick wall backs the hotel's Restaurant Vinkeles, which serves seasonal French cuisine.
Room to Book:
If you enjoy city views, check into a private Superior Canal View Room that faces urban activity.
Insider Tip:
Walk a few blocks South to the nearby Looier Antiques Centre on Elandsgracht street, which sells an eclectic selection of art and antiques. The 80 stalls are open every day except Friday.
