Housed in a former train station, Union Station occupies Nashville's most iconic, recognizable building, originally built in 1898 but updated in 2007 with $10 million in renovations. A recent change in management has brought even more attention to the hotel's restoration: Many of the 125 spacious, whimsically decorated rooms are being upgraded as part of an additional $7 million renovation effort slated for completion in mid-2016. The locomotive theme and hotel's opulent lobby, with its soaring 65-foot stained glass stained glass ceiling, transport guests back to the bygone era of train travel, and the convenience of being able to pop next door to the Frist art museum or walk a few blocks over to the Ryman make this one of Nashville's most tourist-friendly properties.
