Grand Ole Opry
Going strong for 90 years (and counting), Nashville's live radio broadcast has been playing over the airwaves since it started as WSM Barn Dance in 1925. The historic theater is located in what is now a mega-mall parking lot, but the spirit of the venue hasn't changed. Every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday night, a lineup of newcomers and up-and-coming country acts leads off the show for bigger names like Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, and Darius Rucker. Those who want to assume a spot behind the mic on the historic stage like all the greats before them should book a backstage tour, which is offered during the day or late at night, post-show.
