Chef and co-owner John Stephenson brings the panache he exercised in Fido's kitchen for so long to the Wash, with unpretentious fare that taps into both Southern and Latin American influences. While the menu changes regularly, staples include shepherd's pie, Stoned Grits (with beer cheese, sauteed greens, and eggs), and the best wedge salad you've ever tasted. Breakfast is served daily, an anomaly in a brunch-is-for-weekends-only town like Nashville, and you never know what Stephenson might be whipping up; the inventive culinary maestro likes to keep things creative with daily specials such as sweet potato French toast or fried chicken skins with a blackberry-ancho chile BBQ sauce.
