The Amalfi Coast
Coastal Bus Tours
Amalfi Coast, Italy
The best way to enjoy the precipitous and beautiful Amalfi Drive is to avoid the hair-raising hassle of driving it yourself and instead take the public bus. Half-hourly SITA buses leave from the Sorrento train station with stops in Positano, Praiano, Conca (for the Emerald Grotto), and Amalfi, where you can switch to another bus that continues on to Salerno. Tickets are $3; the $9 day pass and $22 three-day pass cover not only the SITA buses, but also local rides on the private City Sightseeing buses, with open-air seating and even more frequent service from Amalfi up to Ravello and from Amalfi on to Salerno.
Insider Tip:
Heading east, scramble for a seat on the right side of the bus for stunning coastal views, which often give the impression that you’re dangling over the cliff’s edge.
