Beautiful hand-loomed blankets, throws, rugs, and upholstery fabrics—many of them made on-site in the second-floor weaving studio—have been the hallmark of this weaving collective-cum-shop since 1968. Though the business moved to a new location in 2004 (for years it had pride of place at the base of Main Street, where the Ralph Lauren boutique now sits), the textiles are still the same; all are woven from natural fibers like linen, cashmere, wool, and mohair, in soft heathery colors that evoke the Nantucket landscape. The work of other island artisans—including carved-wood furniture, quilts, jewelry, and exquisite “sailors’ valentines” (boxes lined with tiny, decoratively arranged seashells)—can be found here, too.
