Things to do in Mykonos

When it comes to activities, visitors to the island won’t be disappointed – there are plenty of things to do in Mykonos, from clubbing and bar hopping to lounging on the beach. As one of the hottest gay destinations in the world – right up there with Ibiza – Mykonos boasts an active gay scene; many gay bars and clubs have opened in recent years, and during peak season, the nightlife on the island is vibrant and lively.

For those looking for more relaxing things to do in Mykonos, there is also an abundance of option. Take a stroll through Mykonos Town’s rambling streets, which are crammed with whitewashed churches, local shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Visitors should also take time to visit Ano Mera, a quaint village at the island’s center, where the monastery of Panagia Tourliani, founded in 1542, is located. Mykonos’s main draw, however, are its beaches, which are numerous and gorgeous, featuring white sand and turquoise water. Tourists should make sure to set aside some time to relax ocean-side, even if in the summer, it may be hard to find a spot to do so.
