Hofbräuhaus, Munich
80331 Altstadt-Lehel
Munich, 80331, Germany
This famous beer hall has traditionally-dressed servers touting large steins of beer — even with breakfast. Hofbräuhaus' roots date back to 1589 as the city's first brewery, and the interior has some wooden tables and chairs that are more than a century old. Three floors can accommodate up to 3,500 guests at a time, and during warm weather months, a beer garden provides additional seating viewing the bustling Marienplatz, Munich’s city center. The menu includes Bavarian dishes like the original Hofbräuhaus brotzeit plate filled with meats, pudding, cheeses, and bread. The top floor has nightly entertainment.
Insider Tip:
Don’t sit at tables marked stammtisch; these are for regulars or one of many organizations that use Hofbräuhaus for meetings.
