Rotisserie Romados is known for its wood-charcoal-grilled Portuguese chicken served under a mountain of French fries. At the small corner restaurant, which opened in 1994, cooks use a paintbrush to drizzle the chicken, rice, and seasoned fries with spiced chili oil. Also a deli counter with charcuterie and a bakery, Romados serves its platters with a house-baked Portuguese bun on the side. For dessert, order a Portuguese egg tart from the bakery. Call an hour ahead to place an order—there's a much shorter line for pre-orders. Seating is limited to three tables, so pick-up food instead and walk 10 minutes along Rachel Street East to Mont-Royal Park.
If you like spice, be sure to ask for some of the rotisserie's hot sauce—great for dunking all those fries in.
