Montego Bay

Montego Bay Travel Guide

Set atop a windy bluff east of Montego Bay, this 18th-century manse is not only beautiful and famous—it’s also haunted.

Part of the sprawling Half Moon Bay resort, the lushly landscaped Village is worth seeing for the setting alone, with canary-yellow shops lining a plaza filled with towering palms and a row of Mediterranean-style fountains.

Owned and operated by local art doyenne Liz de Lisser, an Englishwoman who moved to Jamaica in the 1950’s, this Montego Bay gallery offers an incredible variety of hand-painted wooden birds, giraffes, and other animals, along with angels and furniture.
