Monesties, 81640, France
When food editor Orlando Murrin and his partner, Peter Steggall, first visited the Tarn, outside Toulouse, they fell in love with the landscape and immediately relocated to the south of France. Soon after, the pair set about restoring a 19th-century estate, with a three-room guesthouse and four self-contained apartments. Though the contemporary flats come with fully stocked kitchens, few visitors will want to miss out on meals prepared by Murrin. He bases his authentic southwest French dishes on locally sourced produce and whatever is fresh from the garden.
