Giovanni Galli
Via V. Hugò
Milano, 20122, Italy
Established more than a century ago, this sweet shop is the namesake of founder Giovanni Galli, who learned his trade at the Felice Squarciafico candy factory in the late 1800’s. Now run by Galli’s family, the company operates two stores in Milan—this flagship on Corso di Porta Romana, and a newer branch on Via Victor Hugo. Behind a small glass façade, the Porta Romana shop contains wooden display cases filled with the company’s signature sweets, which include classic pralines, marrons glacés (candied chestnuts), and alchechengis (winter cherries) soaked in liquor and coated in chocolate.
Insider Tip:
Be sure to ask for a sprinkling of candied violets on top of your purchase, which will be packaged in a designer box or basket.
