Midtown West
Porter House New York
New York, NY, 10019, United States
Inspired by Julia Child and trained at Le Cirque, renowned chef Michael Lomonaco worked at Windows on the World before opening this traditional steakhouse in the Time Warner Center. The dim interior, designed by Jeffrey Beers, has huge windows overlooking Central Park as well as exposed cherry wood beams, leather banquettes, and white tablecloths. Paying homage to the city’s signature porterhouse cut, the restaurant serves USDA prime beef, including a chili-rubbed rib eye and, of course, a prime porterhouse for two. The unusually broad menu also includes veal, lamb, duck, and seafood, as well as classic sides like creamed spinach.
Insider Tip:
Schedule your reservation around sunset and request a window seat where you can watch the sun go down over the park.
