The namesake of acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud, this New French restaurant is often lauded as one of the best in the nation. Situated in the Upper East Side, Daniel was renovated in 2008 by celebrated designer Adam D. Tihany, who juxtaposes Neoclassical archways and 18-foot coffered ceilings with sleek velvet banquettes, custom-made chandeliers with Limoges porcelain tiles, and colorful paintings by Spanish artist Manolo Valdés. The prix fixe—only menus include such signature dishes as the slow-baked black sea bass with Sarawak pepper. Desserts are served with complimentary petits fours, chocolate truffles, and warm madeleines fresh from the oven.
