The Design District
The city of Miami (and well-heeled shoppers of the world) owes a debt of gratitude to developer Craig Robins, who saw an opportunity in an otherwise desolate neighborhood and has spent more than a decade turning it into the ever-growing Design District. True to its name, the area is still filled with the high-end home design and furniture showrooms that first set up shop there. But with each passing week, a bevy of new couture boutiques are moving into the neighborhood, with Fendi and Tom Ford among two of its newest residents. The neighborhood is also home to one of the city's most thriving dining scenes, thanks in large part to James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz, whose trio of eateries (Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, The Cypress Room, and Harry's Pizzeria) are among the most buzz-worthy spots.
