Opened in 1965, Miami's swanky Bal Harbour Shops is a popular open-air mall built on what was once the site of a World War II barracks. Among the more than 100 brands that occupy space in this 450,000-square-foot, two-story shopping mecca are Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Fendi, and Balenciaga, as well as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The venue regularly plays host to fashion shows and other events, which attract the likes of Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta. The inner courtyard, filled with plants, fountains, sculptures, and koi ponds, provides a perfect mid-spree pit stop, as do a host of dining options, including Makoto, Carpaccio, and The Grill at Bal Harbour, and Zodiac at Neiman Marcus.
