Tides South Beach

Miami has been a city of big, brash hotels since the 1950’s. Although the landscape is always changing, a few properties rise above the rest, including South Beach’s Tides. The Art Deco icon was recently overhauled by design star Kelly Wearstler, whose Palm Beach–revisited treatment includes a sunset palette and lots of blond wood. Faux tortoise shells festoon the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant; the lobby’s marble bar top is French. In the guest rooms, chair backs are carved to resemble leaves, and whimsical table lamps have bases shaped like conch shells. Wearstler’s clever take on organic ocean-house style creates a space where guests can feel comfy and fabulous.
