Miami Design Preservation League
The exuberant architectures of South Beach are the focus of popular tri-weekly walking tours sponsored by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL). Given Friday through Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings, the league's 90-minute tours highlight the colorfully individualistic buildings of Miami Beach's Art Deco District. Credited with the District's designation as the nation's largest 20th-century historic district, the non-profit MDPL makes preservation of 800 Miami Beach buildings its guiding focus. The league's walking tours incorporate entertaining tidbits of local history with specifics about stop-offs like the funky Hotel Victor and the edgy, 20-century-centric Wolfsonian Museum.
Self-guided audio tours of the District are available for those who can't wait for a tour time.
