Stella McCartney

30 Bruton St.
London, England, W1J 6QR, United Kingdom
TEL: 44 20 7518-3100

Leading the march of younger-generation British fashion designers, Stella McCartney became a star (no surprise with Sir Paul as her father) when Gucci named her its chief in 2001. She then created an eponymous and acclaimed label in which her precision-cut attire combines close-fitting garments with loose knits, silks, and trousers—producing striking yet feminine silhouettes. Inside her restored and modernized Georgian townhouse shop, a glass-covered atrium precedes a shoe suite, where her footwear designs are “suitable for vegetarians.” (McCartney’s a well-known PETA activist and anti-carnivore.) Apparel, accessories, and bags fill the airy first two floors, while on top you’ll find a boudoir supplying McCartney-label lingerie and perfume. But that pedigreed surname will cost you: affable, advice-giving associates may recommend her best-selling skinny trousers (around $700). Otherwise, pick up tops for $400, pants for $600, and dresses for $1,000.
