Just a two-minute walk from the Museo Reina Sofía (Queen Sofia Museum), this three-room art gallery stages contemporary photography, video, and installation exhibits with an emphasis on the avant-garde. Director Helga de Alvear opened the gallery in 1995, in a space that once housed the Galería Juana Mordó. The 700-square-meter building has two street-level gallery rooms, as well as a sky-lit space on the second floor. Represented artists include Madrilenian Santiago Sierra, German Frank Thiel, and Danish and Norwegian collaborators Elmgreen & Dragset, whose 2011 Amigos exhibit explores sexuality through a series of installations based on a sauna.
