Tsara Komba Lodge
Tiny Nosy Komba has no roads, and therefore no cars; guests arrive from Nosy Be, the nearest island, a 25-minute boat ride away. Originally a three-bungalow getaway built by two solitude-loving Frenchmen, Tsara Komba now consists of eight private villas with a veranda-wrapped central hall, all overlooking the ocean. The spare interiors have four-poster beds and ceilings thatched with leaves from the local Ravenala tree. There are no TV’s, Wi-Fi modems, or in-room telephones. Instead, cruise between coves in a pirogue, snorkel along a nearby reef, or visit a plantation of ylang-ylang, the jasmine-scented blossom used in Chanel No. 5.
